Tengkat Tong Sing & Alor Street



FOOD

Oyster Omelette-- A well-known Chinese dish in Taiwan. It is the combination  of the  egg  and  oyster.
These two materials are the major parts of this delicious dish.
Off course, there will be some oil, salt, seasoning and some even have sugar added inside the dish to make it taste.
The taste of the Oyster Omelette varies in different area. The Oyster Omelette here is one of the attraction and you can  easily find it at Alor Street.

Another attraction at Alor Street~  The color of this dish looks nice and attractive.
The combination of stir-fried cube of radish cake, eggs, beansprout and some prawns have made this delicious food, Fried Carrot Cake. It is also called "Chai Tow Kway" by Chinese. It is a Teochew Cuisine in China, Singapore and Malaysia.


WOW- It looks delicious. Milky soup and seafood, especially the fish head make this dish taste perfect..
( Well this is what I thought ......... haha ) 
This dish named Fish Head Meehoon. We ate this at the shop called Choi Kee Gou Lou. 
The picture on the right was taken with the boss of the shop. 
Its price of this food is reasonable because of the ingredients contained in this dish are many and fresh.


A delicious Malay food which are the favorite food of all nation in Malaysia. It has became one of the attraction in Malaysia that tourist must have a try when they visit Malaysia.
 We found out quiet a few SATAY stall at Alor Street. Yes, it is called SATAY.
You won't regret after having a try. So lets go !! 
Just forget to mention about its materials- A bunch of grilled meat which normally made from sliced chicken and beef.



YEAH, it's golden fried chicken wings. A mysterious power has attracted us to walk near to the stall. The smell of the chicken wings have made us hungry although we just have our dinner.
The color..... the smell...... is such a temptation towards the tourists or even local.   



The roasted chestnuts. It is relatively low in calorycontain less fat but rich in minerals and vitamins. A weight lost appliance. One of the snack that you can find at Alor Street.
It is a nice snack for you eat while spending your time.

A "luk luk" stall. Selling food which are basically made of meat and chicken. You can either choose to fried or to cook. It is half self-serviced. You can either fried or cook it by yourself or asking for help from the hawker if you don't know how to cook it.
Here we go. We can find various species of durian here since it was durian season.
You can change it when it is not good at all. Besides durian, there are also various type of fruits that can fill up your taste bud.


Dry meat shop. You can buy chicken dry meat, beef dry meat, and also pork dry meat.
 It is a non-halal food. It is also known as " Bak Gua "
The price are all listed on the yellow paper. You can choose to buy which parts of meat that have been made into meat, a well-known Chinese food.
We ordered a person sized "Bakuteh". Well, a non-halal food and is also not suitable for vegetarian. The main point of this dish is the taste of the soup and also how well the meat is cook. It is made of pork. It is very delicious when you eat with a bowl of reice and also some "you tiao". You can add soup later on if you finished your soup and it is free of charge. 

ARCHITECTURE

A sense of Chinese design elements in this shop. 
The interior of this shop is decorated with lantern and the table and chair is also full of Chinese elements. 

There are a lot of high-rised building in the city center. It looks like an old building . The upper part of the building has different design when compare to the lower part of the building. It is a accommodate building and we can see many clothes were hanging outside to make it dry.

The pictures on the left and bottom show an example of concept restaurant which has used the Chinese elements as it design concepts. These design brings a strong sense of Chinese culture.The placing of a small pool is not only for decoration but also is one part of the "Feng Shui"




     

If the backpackers don't want to spent much on hotel, they can use to choose these inn which are cheap and convenient. These inn can be easily found at Alor Street and Tengkat Tong Sing. Some of these inn were design by using foreign architecture elements to attract foreign tourist who like the sense of home.


Besides that, there are also many bar and bistro along Tengkat Tong Sing. The design of these shop is based on the concept of European Style. The open space sitting area allows the people to smoke and take a good scenery view.




PEOPLE



There are many hawker selling local food to tourists and also the local.
They usually start up their stall at 5.30 pm and end at late night. The reason is because this time   period is the peak hour that tourists come out and search for food.


Ding...ding. A tinny but melodious sound have attracted us. We look towards the direction and saw a girl was singing. She is handicap but she has shown that she also can earn by herself. A positive spirit.
RESPECT........................

The place are crowded with foreigners and local people
Some of them are playing with their 
phone, chatting while waiting their food.




The foreigner and local people like to enjoy at the bistro. 
They drink beer and liqueur at there. It's a place for them to enjoy music and the time with friends.

CULTURE



Sidewalk tattoo shop is a tattoo shop that often visited by the tourists who visiting the area



 Malaysia is famous with the Durian called "Mo san king"and tourist always looking for this type of durian . So durian can be categorized as the factor that attract people from the world to come to Malaysia.


There is one of the usual behavior of the waiters in the Alor street, they invite and promote the pedestrians to eat in their restaurants where they work.




The crowd in Alor street is an usual ,
because tourist and Malaysia people make Alor street as a center of dining.

Luk Luk became the famous food or snack for the Malaysian.
Luk luk also a loveable snack and it's taste good.

Home made snack shop. 
Homemade snack shop is now the only snack shop that you can find in Kuala Lumpur.

Sitting and eating in the sidewalk culture is the one of the culture that has been done long time in Alor Street and it has become one of the habits for the tourists and the visitors who visited Alor street.
